Senior Drafter – Rail and Metro

About the role

Senior Drafter – Rail and Metro joining SMEC’s Melbourne team to support major rail and metro infrastructure projects across Victoria and nationally. Working alongside engineers, designers and project managers, you will provide advanced drafting and digital engineering expertise.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare high‑quality technical documentation and drafting deliverables for rail and metro projects.
• Coordinate and review drafting activities to ensure compliance with client and SMEC standards.
• Mentor and support developing team members, promoting collaboration and consistency.
• Contribute to multidisciplinary project teams, delivering complex infrastructure solutions.

Required profile

• Extensive experience as a drafter in rail or metro infrastructure.
• Strong technical drafting and modelling capability using specialist software.
• Ability to lead documentation preparation and maintain quality standards.
• Proactive attitude with a focus on teamwork and mentorship.
