Senior Cyber Security Engineer

About the role

Avant is seeking a Senior Cyber Security Engineer to design, build and maintain security controls across cloud, SaaS and on‑premises environments. The role focuses on automation, integration and DevSecOps practices to improve security operations and reduce manual effort.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement and optimise security platforms such as SIEM, EDR, cloud security and network security solutions.
• Develop automation scripts and API integrations using PowerShell, Python or similar to streamline remediation and monitoring.
• Enhance detection and response capabilities through SIEM onboarding, detection engineering and workflow optimisation.
• Review and govern network security policies, firewall rules, segmentation and secure connectivity.
• Provide technical leadership, mentoring and guidance to other security engineers.

Required profile

• Proven experience in security engineering, infrastructure or cloud security, with exposure to multiple domains (SIEM, EDR, vulnerability management, SASE, etc.).
• Strong understanding of networking, operating systems, identity, cloud and SaaS security concepts.
• Demonstrated ability to translate regulatory and risk requirements into practical engineering solutions.
• Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with a collaborative mindset.

Required skills

• PowerShell, Python or similar scripting languages.
• API integration and automation tools.
• Experience with CrowdStrike, Netskope, Mimecast, Abnormal AI, SIEM platforms, IDAM/PAM solutions.
• Microsoft Azure and Amazon Web Services (AWS) environments.
