Senior Accountant – Frontier Tech (Contract to Permanent)

About the role

This is a rare opportunity to join a fast‑growing frontier technology scale‑up as a Senior Financial Accountant. You will own end‑to‑end accounting across a multi‑entity, multi‑currency group and help build finance processes from the ground up. The role starts as a contract with a clear path to permanent employment and an immediate start is available.

Key responsibilities

• Own month‑end close activities – journals, accruals, pre‑payments and reconciliations across multiple entities.
• Prepare management reporting and support group consolidation.
• Handle multi‑entity, multi‑currency accounting, including inter‑company balances and foreign‑exchange transactions.
• Run payroll for Australian staff and coordinate payroll inputs for offshore team members.
• Support accounts payable, accounts receivable and billing functions.
• Assist with BAS, GST, PAYG and compliance across jurisdictions.
• Support external audit, R&D Tax Incentive and grant documentation.
• Document policies and controls, improve systems and processes, and roll out timesheeting.

Required profile

• CA or CPA qualified.
• Strong month‑end, journal and reconciliation experience.
• Multi‑entity and foreign‑currency accounting experience, including inter‑company and FX.
• Hands‑on payroll experience.
• Proficient in Xero with strong Excel skills.
• Problem‑solver comfortable with limited processes and a fast‑paced environment.
• Available at short notice and open to a contract‑to‑permanent arrangement.
• Desirable: startup/scale‑up tech experience, exposure to AASB 15 revenue recognition, R&D Tax Incentive or grant work.
