Safety Superintendent - Laverton Steel Mill

About the role

InfraBuild, a 2026 AFR BOSS Best Places to Work Gold Winner and World Steel Association Sustainability Champion, is recruiting a Safety Superintendent for its Manufacturing business at Laverton Steel Mill. Reporting to the Health and Safety Manager, the role provides operational health and safety leadership, support and assurance across the mill, working with operational leaders, employees, contractors and Health and Safety Representatives. It covers the Rolling Mills and Site Services functions in high-risk manufacturing and maintenance environments.

Key responsibilities

• Manage physical, chemical and psychosocial risks and promote wellbeing across workplaces
• Lead critical risk management, ensuring controls are implemented, verified and improved
• Provide visible safety leadership and coaching to leaders and frontline teams
• Lead incident reporting, investigations and learning, and ensure corrective actions are implemented
• Train and guide operational teams on health and safety systems and report performance
• Support compliance with WHS legislation, company standards and assurance requirements through audits and inspections
• Help operational leaders plan, supervise and execute high-risk work safely

Required profile

• Certificate IV or higher in Work Health and Safety
• Strong understanding of Victorian OHS legislative requirements
• ICAM or advanced investigation training
• Experience in manufacturing, heavy industry, steel, construction, logistics or other high-risk environments
• Experience supporting incident investigations and corrective action management
• Ability to influence operational leaders, frontline teams and contractors
