Quality Assurance Specialist – Credit Lending

About the role

Join Athena’s Credit and Risk team to ensure home‑loan credit decisions are accurate, compliant and aligned with the company’s lending standards and risk appetite.

Key responsibilities

• Review and assess home loan credit applications (pre‑ and post‑funding) against Athena’s lending guidelines and compliance requirements.
• Identify policy breaches, process gaps, or potential risks through structured quality reviews.
• Facilitate coaching with credit assessors and work with operational teams to identify up‑skilling opportunities.
• Monitor and report suspicious transactions to AUSTRAC in partnership with Operational and Compliance teams.
• Maintain QA records, track trends and contribute to regular reporting for senior management.
• Collaborate with Credit, Operational Risk and Compliance teams to support risk mitigation and process improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• 2+ years’ experience in Quality Assurance or Credit Operations.
• Strong knowledge of residential mortgage lending and credit assessment principles.
• Ability to identify issues and provide constructive feedback.
• High attention to detail with strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
• Excellent written, oral and interpersonal communication skills.
• Self‑motivated and able to work both independently and collaboratively.
