Public Relations and Social Media Specialist

About the role

Tourism Whitsundays is seeking a creative and strategic Public Relations and Social Media Specialist to showcase one of Australia’s iconic tourism destinations. Working closely with the Head of Marketing, you will own the brand’s organic and paid social presence while driving media outreach and stakeholder communications.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute organic social media strategies across Facebook, Instagram and TikTok.
• Oversee content creation, curation and approval in partnership with the Marketing Assistant.
• Monitor platform trends, performance metrics and propose ideas to boost engagement.
• Support paid social media planning and delivery.
• Design and implement media outreach programmes, write releases and tailor pitches for destination stories.
• Build and maintain relationships with key media contacts and respond to enquiries.
• Assist with corporate communications, announcements and stakeholder engagement.

Required profile

• Minimum three years’ experience in social media, marketing, communications or public relations.
• Demonstrated ability to manage projects from brief to delivery.
• Strong copywriting, editing and stakeholder management skills.
• Highly organised with a proactive, ownership‑driven mindset.

Required skills
