Project Engineer – Capital Projects

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Project Engineer to lead major capital investment projects at our Wahgunyah factory, home to Nestlé Uncle Tobys Snacks and Cereals. The role is a 2‑year fixed‑term position reporting to the Engineering Manager and involves delivering projects that meet safety, quality, cost and schedule targets.

Key responsibilities

• Own capital projects from concept through implementation and hand‑over.
• Develop project charters, manage budgets, timelines and risk registers.
• Ensure compliance with Nestlé engineering standards, local regulations and food‑manufacturing requirements such as Hygienic Design, GMP and CIP.
• Lead cross‑functional teams, coordinate contractors and trades, and maintain high safety and quality standards.
• Communicate project status to steering committees and support commissioning and start‑up activities.

Required profile

• Degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Chemical, Mechatronics Engineering or a related discipline.
• Minimum 5 years of engineering experience, including delivery of capital projects up to $10 M.
• Proven ability to manage budgets, risks and stakeholder relationships.
• Experience in engineering design, installation and commissioning, preferably in food manufacturing.
• Strong communication and influencing skills across all organisational levels.
