Production Engineer – 18‑Month Contract

About the role

Alcon is seeking a Production Engineer to provide hands‑on engineering support on the manufacturing floor. You will work directly with technicians to troubleshoot product, process, test, calibration and equipment issues, ensuring smooth daily operations.

Key responsibilities

• Provide day‑to‑day engineering support for manufacturing operations.
• Collaborate with technicians to diagnose and resolve product, process, test, calibration and equipment problems.
• Investigate manufacturing issues using logical, structured, evidence‑based problem‑solving.
• Support root‑cause investigations and drive issues to effective resolution.
• Identify opportunities to improve quality, yield, efficiency, process stability and throughput.
• Participate in daily production meetings, communicating priorities, technical issues, risks and actions.
• Escalate safety, quality, delivery or production issues promptly and support their resolution.
• Work cross‑functionally with Production, Engineering, Quality, NPI, Systems and R&D teams.
• Assist with engineering trials, process changes and continuous‑improvement activities.
• Prepare and maintain production documentation such as work instructions, rework instructions, NCRs, ECNs and production records.

Required profile

• Degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline.
• Hands‑on experience in manufacturing, production, testing or similar engineering environments (preferred).
• Strong engineering fundamentals with logical, structured problem‑solving abilities.
• Curious, proactive, willing to learn and a strong sense of ownership.
• Practical, confident in supporting manufacturing processes, troubleshooting and investigations.
• Effective communication and teamwork skills in a cross‑functional setting.
