Production Technician – Precision Micro‑Optics

About the role

Alcon is seeking a Production Technician to join its Mulgrave (Melbourne) site, supporting the rapid scale‑up of innovative eye‑care products. You will work in a fast‑paced, collaborative environment assembling and testing precision micro‑optical and electromechanical systems.

Key responsibilities

• Assemble complex micro‑optical and electromechanical components following detailed work instructions.
• Operate custom automation equipment for precision assembly processes.
• Troubleshoot sub‑assemblies and report quality issues.
• Collaborate with Engineering and New Product Introduction (NPI) teams on prototype builds.
• Contribute to 5S and continuous‑improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• High School Certificate with strong results in science or technology subjects (technical certification desirable).
• Detail‑oriented with a passion for precision manufacturing.
• Ability to work safely in a clean‑room environment and follow GMP standards.
• Strong communication, teamwork, and problem‑solving skills.

Required skills

• Precision assembly techniques.
• Use of hand tools and precision measuring instruments.
• Reading and interpreting complex work instructions and technical drawings.
• Operating custom automation equipment.
• Clean‑room operational experience (desirable).
• Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) for documentation and reporting.
