Electrical Engineering Technician – 12‑month contract

About the role
As an Electrical Engineering Technician in Alcon’s medical‑technology manufacturing site, you will ensure the reliability, safety and performance of production and test equipment used to build ophthalmic diagnostic devices such as OCT imaging systems.
Key responsibilities
- Perform planned, preventive and corrective maintenance on manufacturing and test equipment to maximise uptime.
- Troubleshoot electrical and electronic faults in machinery, test fixtures, sensors, actuators and control systems, identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
- Support installation, commissioning and re‑qualification of new or upgraded equipment, including wiring, functional checks and hand‑over to production.
- Calibrate and verify measurement equipment and test rigs to meet specification and traceability requirements.
- Interpret engineering drawings, schematics, wiring diagrams and technical manuals.
- Assist with equipment improvements such as control panels, PLC I/O, interlocks and E‑stop circuits.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records, fault reports, calibration logs and equipment history.
- Collaborate with Engineering, Manufacturing and Quality teams to drive continuous improvement.
Required profile
- Diploma (or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering, Electronics or Engineering Technology.
- Hands‑on experience maintaining and troubleshooting electrical/electronic systems in a manufacturing or test environment; med‑tech experience is a plus.
- Strong fault‑finding skills across power, control and instrumentation circuits.
Required skills
- Electrical and electronic troubleshooting.
- Preventive and corrective maintenance.
- Calibration of measurement equipment.
- Use of test equipment such as multimeters and oscilloscopes.
- Reading schematics, wiring diagrams and technical manuals.
- PLC I/O, control panels, interlocks and E‑stop circuit knowledge.
