Primary Health Nurse (Full-time, Max-Term)

About the role

The Royal Flying Doctor Service South Eastern Section is seeking a Primary Health Nurse to provide essential health services to rural and remote communities from its base in Broken Hill. This full‑time, maximum‑term position runs until 30 June 2027 and involves travelling by aircraft and road to a network of clinics.

Key responsibilities

• Visit remote clinics by plane and vehicle to deliver primary health care.
• Manage chronic disease patients, conduct immunisations and health assessments.
• Promote health education, lifestyle changes and early intervention.
• Support general practitioners and multidisciplinary health teams on site.
• Maintain accurate clinical records and ensure compliance with health regulations.

Required profile

• Significant experience in community‑based primary health settings, especially in rural or remote areas.
• Comprehensive knowledge of chronic disease management, child and family health, women’s health, men’s health and health promotion.
• Ability to work autonomously while collaborating with GP and health teams.
• Familiarity with the challenges of delivering health care in isolated locations.

Required skills

• Valid immunisation certification.
• Clinical experience in primary health care.
