Plant Engineer

About the role

Egis is seeking an experienced Plant Engineer to join its Operations team, supporting asset performance across Transurban’s Sydney Southern Network. You will work in a safety‑critical, 24/7 motorway and tunnel environment, contributing directly to reliability, safety and performance of key road assets.

Key responsibilities

• Lead fault investigation, triage and recovery for tunnel and roadside plant systems.
• Support maintenance teams with reactive and planned works.
• Analyse operational data to identify trends, eliminate defects and drive performance improvements.
• Coordinate incident responses and asset failures across operations and maintenance.
• Manage and prioritise work through enterprise systems (AIS/CMMS).
• Work with OEMs and specialist vendors to restore service and prevent recurrence.
• Provide 24/7 coordination support during incidents and major events.
• Own defect management, reporting and post‑incident follow‑up.
• Act as a key technical interface with client and maintenance stakeholders.

Required profile

• Degree in Electrical, Mechatronic, Control Systems Engineering or equivalent experience.
• Experience in plant, SCADA/OMCS or critical infrastructure environments (tunnels, motorways, rail or similar).
• Strong fault‑finding and problem‑solving capability.
• Experience with asset management or CMMS systems.
• Ability to analyse data and translate insights into practical outcomes.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Commitment to safety, quality and continuous improvement.
• Based in Sydney, NSW with the right to work in Australia.
