Payments Settlements Graduate Program – Risk Management Stream

About the role

Join the Reserve Bank of Australia's Risk & Compliance team as a graduate and gain hands‑on experience in operational risk, governance and compliance within the Payments Settlements area. Over two years you will rotate through structured learning, development and networking while working on Australia's critical payment infrastructure.

Key responsibilities

• Support initiatives that strengthen risk awareness and embed a positive risk culture across the department.
• Assist with identifying, assessing and managing operational risks across critical payment systems.
• Contribute to the design, implementation and monitoring of risk controls.
• Support incident management activities, including investigations, root cause analysis and remediation planning.
• Assist in the implementation and ongoing enhancement of the RBA's risk and compliance frameworks.

Required profile

• Recent graduate (or soon to graduate) with a degree in Applied Finance, Actuarial Studies, Commerce, Business or a related discipline and high academic achievement.
• Australian citizenship, permanent residency or New Zealand citizenship at the time of application.
• Curiosity about risk management, governance, compliance and financial resilience.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving and communication skills.
