Financial Accountant

About the role

The Financial Accountant will support Q-CTRL's global finance team by handling day‑to‑day accounting tasks across multiple entities. Reporting to the Financial Controller in Sydney, this hands‑on role ensures accurate financial reporting for investors and business leaders.

Key responsibilities

• Process accounts payable, expenses, payroll, banking transactions and journal entries.
• Prepare month‑end close activities, including journal entries and reconciliations for cash, prepaids, accruals, inter‑company, fixed assets and other accounts.
• Coordinate with departments to obtain transaction information, resolve reconciling items and answer financial queries.
• Assist with tax and statutory compliance filings and support auditors with financial statement preparation.
• Participate in equity transactions, capital projects and workflow improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• 3+ years of experience in general ledger accounting or bookkeeping with higher‑level responsibilities.
• Tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance or related field; working towards or completed CA/CPA.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving and communication skills; ability to manage competing deadlines in a fast‑paced startup.

Required skills

• Good working knowledge of IFRS (GAAP knowledge helpful).
• Experience with payroll processes in Australia, UK and/or USA.
• Proficiency with accounting systems such as Campfire, Ramp, Stripe (or similar ERP).
• Advanced use of Google Workspace, especially Google Sheets and Excel.
