Mental Health Clinician – Aged Care (Part‑time)

About the role

This part‑time position (0.8 FTE) supports the mental health and wellbeing of older adults living in residential aged care facilities across Central Queensland, Wide Bay and the Sunshine Coast. You will join the Better Connect program, delivering high‑quality counselling in a hybrid, family‑friendly environment.

Key responsibilities

• Provide individual and group counselling for aged‑care residents, assessing and addressing their unique mental health needs.
• Increase mental health awareness among facility staff, families and carers.
• Collaborate with aged‑care facilities, families, carers and other stakeholders to ensure a holistic approach.
• Participate in supervision and professional development to maintain service excellence.

Required profile

• Experience working with older adults (highly regarded).
• Background in individual counselling therapy focusing on mental health, trauma and family conflict.
• Knowledge of mental health recovery principles, the social model of health and community networks.
• Bachelor’s degree in Counselling, Social Work, Nursing or related field and relevant professional registration.

Required skills

• Familiarity with therapeutic approaches such as ACT, mindfulness and brief therapy.
• Proficiency with standard computer applications (Word, email, databases).
