Manager, Business Risk

About the role

As Manager, Business Risk you will strengthen AP+’s control environment by providing assurance over the design and operating effectiveness of key controls. You will work within Group Risk to plan and execute control assurance activities, assess control effectiveness and identify improvement opportunities.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver control assurance activities in line with the Group Risk Control Assurance Plan, ensuring risk‑based, high‑quality testing within agreed timeframes.
• Plan and execute testing of control design and operating effectiveness, using sound judgement to assess effectiveness.
• Translate assurance findings into insights, identify systemic issues, emerging themes and opportunities to improve control maturity.
• Partner with control owners and stakeholders to validate outcomes, agree on deficiencies and drive sustainable improvements.
• Monitor and report on the delivery of the Control Assurance Plan, control effectiveness and remediation progress.

Required profile

• At least 5 years’ experience in risk management, preferably in a complex organisational environment.
• Strong practical experience across risk assessment, control implementation, control assurance/testing and risk mitigation.
• Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills with confidence to engage control owners.
• Ability to translate assurance activity and data into clear reporting, insights and recommendations.
• Relevant tertiary qualification in Risk Management, Finance, Business Administration or related discipline; professional risk or compliance qualifications advantageous.

Required skills

• Understanding of risk management frameworks, methodologies and industry best practice.
• Ability to assess risks and vulnerabilities, understand potential impact and develop mitigation strategies.
• Strong analytical capability, judgement and attention to detail.
• Knowledge of financial services, payments technology and/or IT environment; technology risk experience highly regarded.
