Leisure and Lifestyle Assistant

About the role

The Leisure and Lifestyle Assistant will develop and deliver a person‑centred activities programme for residents in a residential aged‑care setting. This part‑time, ongoing role focuses on promoting healthy living, communication and personal fulfilment for an aged population.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, facilitate and evaluate activities that cater to residents with diverse physical and cognitive impairments.
• Maintain a patient‑centred focus and improve overall quality of life for residents.
• Collaborate with the care team, families and health professionals to ensure person‑centred care.
• Communicate effectively, both written and verbally, with staff, residents, families and visitors.
• Drive the resident bus for external outings and community engagement.

Required profile

• Certificate IV in Community Services (Lifestyle and Health) or willingness to obtain through trainee sponsorship.
• Current Level 2 First Aid certification.
• Understanding of Quality, Infection Prevention and Control, and WH&S principles.
• Experience or knowledge of residential aged‑care environments and resident needs.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build rapport with residents, families and the health‑care team.
• Commitment to the Charter of Residents Rights and Responsibilities.

Required skills

• Sound computer knowledge and keyboard skills.
