Legal Counsel – Projects

About the role

Reporting to the Senior Legal Counsel, you will provide timely commercial and practical legal advice to protect the company’s legal and commercial interests across major projects and sustaining capital teams. Based in the West Perth office, the role supports the business in achieving its growth objectives while offering flexible working arrangements.

Key responsibilities

• Draft, negotiate and review a broad range of legal and commercial agreements, including capital project supply agreements, construction contracts, professional services agreements, equipment supply contracts, tender documents, land access agreements and other procurement contracts.
• Assist with resolving commercial disputes and potentially litigious matters.
• Prepare Board papers for contract approvals and related legal matters.
• Support contract administration and claims management during project execution, advising on variations, extensions of time, SOPA payment obligations and early dispute resolution.
• Develop contract playbooks, standard form templates and deliver legal training to project and procurement teams.
• Instruct and manage external legal providers to obtain timely, fit‑for‑purpose advice on competitive terms.

Required profile

• Approximately 3–7 years post‑admission experience gained at a top‑tier or specialist firm and/or in‑house in the resources, energy or infrastructure sectors.
• Demonstrated front‑end experience drafting and negotiating complex commercial agreements.
