Legal Counsel – 12 month parental leave cover

About the role

L’Oréal ANZ is looking for a motivated legal professional to join its high‑performing legal team on a 12‑month parental‑leave cover contract. Based in Melbourne, you will provide day‑to‑day legal advice across a broad range of areas, supporting the business and its 38 brands.

Key responsibilities

• Provide commercial‑focused legal advice on consumer law, competition law, health regulation, digital and data matters, contract law and general corporate/commercial issues.
• Design, draft, negotiate, review and advise on contracts, variations, terminations and third‑party partnerships.
• Advise on compliance with consumer law, marketing regulations and health regulations, including TGA requirements.
• Deliver practical legal training and education across the organisation.
• Support compliance with L’Oréal’s business standards, including fraud, corruption and intermediary controls.
• Drive legal innovation and operations strategy within the team.
• Build strong relationships across functions to provide pragmatic, commercially‑astute advice.

Required profile

• 2‑3 years post‑qualification legal experience, either in‑house (including secondments) or at a law firm.
• Experience in FMCG or retail environments is highly regarded.
• Proven ability to implement legal technology solutions.
• Strong regulatory mindset with the capacity to navigate complex compliance landscapes.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, able to interact at all organisational levels.
• Strategic, pragmatic and commercial advisory capability.
• Genuine appreciation for L’Oréal’s brands and products.
