Senior Corporate Lawyer

About the role

Origin is seeking a Senior Corporate Lawyer to join its Retail Legal team, supporting the Retail and Origin Zero businesses. This senior advisory position focuses on complex energy regulation, investigations and practical legal advice to enable informed business decisions.

Key responsibilities

• Advise the Retail business on complex energy regulatory matters.
• Manage legal issues arising from regulatory incidents and investigations, engaging with bodies such as the Australian Energy Regulator and ACCC.
• Provide clear, practical recommendations that support sound business decisions.
• Draft and review customer contracts and communications for clarity and accuracy.
• Monitor legislative, regulatory and policy changes and keep the business informed.
• Manage external legal advisers to ensure commercial, customer‑focused and cost‑effective support.
• Mentor and guide junior lawyers within the team.

Required profile

• Admission as an Australian lawyer with 8–10+ years post‑admission experience.
• Strong knowledge of energy regulation, particularly retail energy regulations.
• Experience managing regulatory incidents and investigations with regulators such as AER or ACCC.
• Sound judgement, practical solutions‑focused approach and ability to explain complex issues clearly.
• Strong influencing, stakeholder management and ability to handle competing deadlines.
