Senior Legal Counsel

About the role

Omnicom Oceania is looking for an experienced Senior Legal Counsel to join its Melbourne team. You will provide commercial, timely legal advice across the Omnicom Oceania business in Australia and New Zealand, working closely with senior leadership and the General Counsel.

Key responsibilities

• Draft, review and negotiate commercial agreements for the Omnicom Oceania business.
• Provide accurate, pragmatic legal advice to all business units.
• Identify legal risks, develop compliance programmes and ensure adherence to legal processes.
• Develop expertise in data privacy and security, supporting business decisions and responding to client/vendor queries.
• Maintain legal records and databases, and support the General Counsel with briefs and other documents.
• Participate in OO projects, especially those related to data and privacy.

Required profile

• At least 5 years’ experience as a legal counsel in a law firm or in‑house environment.
• Tertiary law qualification and a current practising certificate in an Australian state.
• Proven ability to work with senior leadership, strong written and analytical skills, and experience in project management.
• High attention to detail, self‑initiative and the ability to work autonomously and in a team.
• Comfortable managing competing priorities in a fast‑paced environment.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Experience with legal research tools.
