Kitchen Steward (Part-Time, Evening/Night)

About the role

Challenger Services Group is recruiting a part-time Kitchen Steward for a client hotel in Melbourne CBD. The role supports the smooth running of a busy hotel kitchen by keeping equipment and work areas clean so chefs can deliver a great service. It is an evening/overnight position on weekdays only (Monday to Friday), from 5:00pm to 1:00am or other hours as required by the hotel.

Key responsibilities

• Wash and clean dishes, pots, pans, trays, cutlery, crockery, glassware and other kitchen equipment, making sure clean items are available when needed.
• Clean kitchen areas and equipment such as benches, stoves, grill plates, salamanders and deep fryers to hygiene and quality standards.
• Clean floors, sweep, mop and scrub, empty and clean bins, and remove waste to designated areas.
• Complete end-of-service and end-of-event cleaning so the kitchen and food and beverage areas are tidy and ready for the next service.
• Work safely and professionally, following HACCP, WHS and chemical handling requirements, and report hazards or breakages.

Required profile

• Good attitude, reliability and comfort with hands-on work; ideally commercial kitchen, hospitality, hotel or F&B experience.
• Physically fit, able to wash dishes, move equipment, empty bins and scrub floors.
• Understanding of hygiene, HACCP and safe chemical handling.
• Available for the evening/night roster, including after events.
• Able to work independently and support the kitchen team.
• Sufficient English to understand procedures, training and WHS requirements, and to use rostering and timesheet systems.
