Junior Category Manager - Consumer Electronics

About the role

Kogan.com is hiring a Junior Category Manager for its Tech & Electronics division within Purchasing, based in South Melbourne, Victoria. The role reports directly to the Director of Purchasing and gives you ownership of the consumer electronics category, from sourcing new products to supplier partnerships and P&L responsibility. It suits an Assistant Buyer, Category Assistant, Allocator or Planner who wants to move into product and buying.

Key responsibilities

• Identify commercial opportunities to expand the category, including sourcing and developing new products
• Sourcing key suppliers locally and internationally, including for Kogan.com's Exclusive Brands
• Manage daily category operations: planning and promotions, inventory management, shipping and logistics to meet monthly revenue and profit targets
• Negotiate trading terms and prices, and control price changes across sales channels
• Forecast, plan promotions and react to market conditions to keep inventory levels aligned with goals and KPIs
• Work with Marketing and Promotions to ensure product listings are well merchandised and discoverable
• Monitor performance, complete range reviews and act where necessary

Required profile

• University degree in a relevant field (Commerce, Business, Engineering, Supply Chain or similar)
• Experience at Assistant or Junior Category Manager level, or having supported a Category Manager with exposure to a product range
• Experience in eCommerce, retail, FMCG or tech/electronics categories highly regarded
• Strong communication, analytical and commercial judgement, comfortable in a fast-paced environment
• Full-time Australian working rights and willingness to undergo a National Police Record check

Required skills

• Advanced Microsoft Excel (VLOOKUP, pivot tables)
• Proficiency with IT and cloud-based tools, with a keen eye for using AI to streamline workflows
