Business Development Manager - Marketplace

About the role

Kogan.com is looking for a Business Development Manager to join its Marketplace team in South Melbourne, Victoria. Reporting to the Head of Sales – Marketplace, the role supports the acquisition and growth of new sellers, bringing relevant, well-priced product ranges onto the Kogan.com and Mighty Ape platforms. It suits someone with a few years of sales or commercial experience, or a junior category coordinator / assistant buyer moving from traditional retail to online retail.

Key responsibilities

• Identify and onboard new sellers aligned with the marketplace's strategic goals and customer needs
• Vet incoming seller applications against the company's standards and criteria
• Build and maintain relationships with new and existing sellers
• Analyse market trends and competitor activity to find new seller acquisition opportunities
• Negotiate terms and agreements with sellers
• Work with internal teams to ensure a smooth onboarding process

Required profile

• University degree in a relevant field such as Business, Commerce or Marketing
• Demonstrated commercial experience, preferably in retail or eCommerce
• Strong communication and negotiation skills, and good time management across multiple projects
• Customer-centric mindset and comfort with a fast-paced, disruptive business model

Required skills

• Tech-savvy, using IT and cloud-based tools to improve efficiency
• Proficiency with AI tools to automate workflows, analyse data and speed up decisions
