Junior Category Manager - Home & Living

About the role

Kogan.com is looking for a commercially minded, outcomes-driven Junior Category Manager to join its growing Home & Appliances team in South Melbourne, Victoria. Reporting to the Deputy Director of Purchasing, the role suits someone who has already gained exposure to category management and is ready to take on greater ownership, manage a portfolio, partner with suppliers and launch new products. It is open to Assistant Buyers / Category Assistants looking for their next step.

Key responsibilities

• Identify commercial opportunities to expand the category, including sourcing and developing new products
• Sourcing and engaging key suppliers, locally and internationally, under the Exclusive Brands programme
• Manage daily category operations: planning and promotions, inventory management, shipping and logistics, to exceed monthly revenue and profit targets
• Negotiate trading terms and prices, and control price changes across sales channels
• Ensure timely introduction of new products and timely fulfilment of customer demand
• Monitor inventory levels, forecast forward and plan promotions in response to market conditions
• Partner with Marketing and Promotions to keep product listings well merchandised and discoverable
• Complete range reviews and take action where needed

Required profile

• University degree in a relevant field (Commerce, Business, Economics or similar)
• Experience owning a category at Assistant or Junior Category Manager level, or having supported a Category Manager with a product range
• Experience in eCommerce, retail, FMCG or home & living / furniture categories is highly regarded
• Comfortable building relationships and working in a fast-paced environment
• Full-time Australian working rights and a National Police Record check

Required skills

• Highly analytical with commercial judgement
• Advanced Microsoft Excel (VLOOKUP, pivot tables)
• Proficiency with IT and cloud-based tools, with a keen eye for using AI to streamline workflows
