Junior Accountant – Client Management & Tax Support

About the role

We are looking for a motivated Accountant to manage a portfolio of clients, ensuring deadlines are met and client satisfaction is high. This junior‑level position offers the chance to develop your accounting expertise while working closely with senior staff.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and lodge Business Activity Statements (BAS) and Income Tax Returns (ITRs) for assigned clients.
• Compile financial statements and support senior accountants in review processes.
• Assist in tax planning meetings and contribute to VCFO and management reporting sessions.
• Draft responses to client queries for senior accountant approval.
• Track weekly utilisation using the Workflow Capacity Spreadsheet and communicate workload changes proactively.
• Participate in the development and implementation of accounting policies, procedures, and system improvements.

Required profile

• Not a graduate and not yet at senior accountant level, but eager to progress to senior roles.
• Ability to follow direction from senior accountants and managers.
• Strong organisational skills with a focus on meeting deadlines.
• Proactive communicator who can flag under‑ or over‑utilisation of capacity.

Required skills

• Experience preparing BAS and ITR filings.
• Competence in preparing financial statements.
• Understanding of tax planning processes.
• Proficiency with spreadsheet tools (e.g., Excel) for workload tracking.
