Investment Banking Analyst – M&A (Australia)

About the role

This position offers an Investment Banking Analyst the chance to work on high‑quality M&A, capital advisory and strategic corporate finance mandates within a lean, entrepreneurial advisory firm. You will gain direct exposure to senior bankers and clients across both private treaty and public market transactions.

Key responsibilities

• Support execution of M&A, capital advisory and strategic corporate finance mandates.
• Build and maintain detailed financial models, valuation analyses and transaction workstreams.
• Prepare client materials such as information memoranda, management presentations, board papers and buyer research.
• Assist with sell‑side and buy‑side processes, including buyer targeting, market mapping and due‑diligence coordination.
• Conduct company, sector and market research for live transactions and origination initiatives.
• Coordinate execution tasks with clients, counterparties, lawyers, accountants and other advisers.

Required profile

• 1‑4 years of experience in investment banking, corporate advisory, transaction services, valuations, restructuring or a related corporate finance environment.
• Exposure to M&A, capital raisings, public market transactions or strategic reviews.
• Strong analytical, valuation and presentation capability.
• Clear written and verbal communication with high attention to detail.
• Commercial judgement, intellectual curiosity and ability to work with senior stakeholders.
• Degree in Finance, Commerce, Economics, Accounting, Law or a related discipline.
• Progress towards CFA, CA or similar professional qualification is a plus.
