Head Barista

About the role

Allpress is looking for a Head Barista to lead the day-to-day coffee operations in its Zetland café. It is a hands-on, customer-facing role where you set and maintain the highest standards of coffee quality and foster a positive team culture. You act as the coffee lead on the floor, support barista development and supervise when the Café Manager is not present.

Key responsibilities

• Craft consistently high-quality coffee in a fast-paced environment, delivering every cup with care and a warm customer experience
• Maintain and manage stock levels, including daily replenishment and proactive ordering
• Take ownership of opening and closing procedures in line with Allpress standards and SOPs
• Build strong relationships with customers, team members and suppliers
• Lead the team on shift, set the pace of service and mentor junior baristas

Required profile

• Proven experience as a senior or lead barista in a busy café
• Confidence in leading a team on shift and setting the pace of service
• Strong understanding of calibration, recipe consistency and workflow management
• Excellent communication skills and a collaborative approach
• A calm, supportive leadership style and a passion for hospitality
