About the role

Norton Rose Fulbright is seeking a Graduate Lawyer to join its Public Law team in Canberra. You will work alongside senior practitioners advising Commonwealth Government clients on complex administrative, litigation and regulatory matters.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with litigated matters in State, Territory and Federal Courts and Tribunals, including merits, judicial review and common law claims.
• Provide advice on legislation, statutory interpretation, administrative law and decision‑making.
• Draft high‑quality legal advice, submissions and Court/Tribunal documents.
• Support clients in responding to inquiries such as Royal Commissions and investigations.
• Advise on privacy, Freedom of Information and other regulatory matters.
• Participate in secondment opportunities with key government clients.

Required profile

• Up to 2 years post‑admission experience (government or private practice advantageous).
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Genuine interest in public law, government and litigation.
• Strong analytical, research and drafting abilities.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
• Experience in litigation, public law or regulatory law is advantageous.
• Willingness to apply for and obtain an AGSVA security clearance.
