Financial Controller – Senior Leadership (Full/Part-time, Permanent)

About the role

Anglican Youthworks is looking for an experienced Financial Controller to lead its finance function across multiple not‑for‑profit divisions. Reporting to the CFO, you will ensure robust financial reporting, compliance and governance while enabling ministry leaders to focus on their core mission.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare accurate monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements and coordinate the external audit.
• Own the reconciliation framework for all balance‑sheet, bank and revenue accounts.
• Ensure compliance with ACNC, Corporations Act, GST, PAYG, FBT and payroll tax obligations.
• Partner with the fundraising team on donation compliance, receipting and reporting.
• Support budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis across divisions.
• Oversee payroll, treasury, cash flow and the organisation’s investment portfolio.
• Maintain the fixed‑asset register and manage vendor and expense processes.
• Lead, develop and support a high‑performing finance team.

Required profile

• CPA or CA ANZ qualified with a relevant degree.
• 7+ years in accounting/financial management, including at least 3 years in a senior controller or CFO role.
• Experience in the not‑for‑profit, charity, church, education or community sector is highly regarded.
• Demonstrated ability to manage a multi‑entity or multi‑division finance function.
• Personal commitment to, or respectful understanding of, the Christian faith and Youthworks’ mission.

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of Australian tax compliance (GST, PAYG, FBT, payroll tax, DGR).
• Expertise in financial reporting, reconciliations and audit coordination.
• Proficiency in budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis.
• Experience overseeing payroll, treasury and cash‑flow management.
