Experienced Diamond Driller and Geotechnical Technician

About the role

Fugro is seeking an experienced Diamond Driller and Geotechnical Technician to join its land team in Balcatta, WA. The role offers a balanced, family‑friendly schedule with short‑term site trips and a variety of equipment to operate.

Key responsibilities

• Operate and maintain drilling and testing equipment, including Hanjin 8D rigs, auger rigs, DPSH rigs and CPT machines.
• Conduct geotechnical drilling (15‑25 m), Standard Penetration Tests, sampling and cone penetration testing.
• Identify site access, arrange plant, equipment and water supplies, and set up gear with an offsider.
• Mentor junior staff, act as the site contact for clients, and troubleshoot equipment issues.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years proven experience as a driller (not off‑siding) with strong mechanical and hydraulic repair skills.
• HR truck licence, ability to drive 6 × 6 rigid trucks and trailers, White Card and an Australian drilling certificate (or close to obtaining one).

Required skills

• Drilling operation on Hanjin 8D and diamond core rigs.
• Mechanical and hydraulic repair, minor equipment maintenance.
• Operation of CPT rigs, auger drill rigs on 4WD Utes, DPSH rigs, dual‑tube percussive rigs, backhoes or excavators.
