Electrical Design Engineer – Building Services

About the role

RSGx Engineering is seeking experienced Electrical Design Engineers to deliver building services and infrastructure designs for major rail and energy projects across Victoria and NSW. The role focuses on electrical layouts, equipment accommodation, and detailed documentation within complex, multidisciplinary environments.

Key responsibilities

• Design and develop electrical building services solutions covering power distribution, lighting, essential services, communications, standby power, renewable energy and specialist systems.
• Prepare and review design documentation such as drawings, single‑line diagrams, schedules, specifications, calculations and technical reports.
• Coordinate electrical designs with architectural, structural, mechanical, hydraulic, fire and other disciplines to ensure integrated, buildable solutions.
• Identify and resolve design, coordination and constructability issues throughout the project lifecycle.
• Conduct site inspections to verify conditions, support design development and maintain design intent.
• Provide technical support to project teams, clients, contractors and stakeholders.
• Ensure compliance with Australian Standards, regulatory requirements, project specifications and industry best practice.

Required profile

• Qualified Electrical Engineer (Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering).
• Significant experience in electrical building services design on complex infrastructure projects, preferably within Tier 1 or Tier 2 consulting firms.
• Strong understanding of equipment accommodation and layout coordination in constrained environments.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Revit, AutoCAD and/or PowerCAD.
• Sound knowledge of Australian electrical standards, especially AS/NZS 3000.
• Experience preparing detailed design documentation and multidisciplinary coordination.
