Drainer / General Hand – Civil Construction

About the role

The Drainer / General Hand joins the Infrastructure Engineering Construction team to build and maintain municipal stormwater drainage systems. This hands‑on position involves constructing pipes, pits and side entries while operating plant and equipment in a safety‑focused environment.

Key responsibilities

• Construct and modify stormwater drainage infrastructure such as pipes, pits and side entries according to detailed plans.
• Operate plant, equipment and vehicles used in civil construction projects.
• Measure, verify and maintain quality standards on site.
• Follow safety and Workplace Health and Safety procedures at all times.

Required profile

• Relevant experience in civil construction or drainage work.
• Ability to read and interpret construction plans and perform accurate measurements.
• Capable of working independently and as part of a team.
• Commitment to safe work practices and WHS requirements.

Required skills

• MR Driver's Licence.
• White Card (construction induction).
• Basic Workplace Traffic Management and Traffic Control certification.
• Machine or plant operator certification (desirable).
