Director, Rural Health (Part‑time, 0.6 FTE)

About the role

The Director, Rural Health will provide strategic leadership for research, education and clinical integration across the Bathurst Rural Clinical School. This senior part‑time position (0.6 FTE) is fixed‑term to March 2027 and is central to improving rural health outcomes, workforce development and community engagement.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the development and delivery of high‑quality undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and supervision in rural health.
• Grow a strong rural health research portfolio through publications, external grant acquisition and collaborative projects.
• Strengthen partnerships with government health departments, rural health services, community organisations and the North Coast Medical Education Collaboration.
• Drive integration of academic, clinical and community health priorities to enhance multidisciplinary training programmes.
• Provide curriculum leadership and support pathways for students into rural health careers.

Required profile

• Distinguished senior academic with an outstanding record in rural health research and teaching.
• National or international recognition in rural health or a related discipline.
• Proven experience leading large programmes, teams or academic units.
• Strong track record of research funding, high‑impact publications and stakeholder engagement.
• Ability to build and influence partnerships across health, community and governmental sectors.

• Annual salary $230,375 – $238,446 plus 17% superannuation and leave loading (pro‑rata).
