Director of Government Affairs

About the role

Salesforce is seeking a senior Government Affairs professional based in Australia to lead its engagement strategy with federal, state and territory governments. Reporting to the VP of Government Affairs and Public Policy for APAC, the role sits at the crossroads of public policy, AI governance and public‑sector market enablement.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute proactive government‑relations strategies on AI governance, cloud security, data sovereignty, privacy and IT modernisation.
• Build trusted relationships with elected officials, ministers, agency executives and procurement leaders to champion digital service delivery.
• Partner with Salesforce Public Sector team to remove commercial friction and open procurement pathways.
• Represent Salesforce in industry associations and policy coalitions to influence favourable technology outcomes.
• Collaborate with Legal, PR, Compliance, Security and Product teams to align policy objectives with corporate goals.

Required profile

• 10+ years of senior experience in government affairs, public policy or legislative roles within technology, government or top‑tier advisory firms.
• Deep understanding of Australian federal and state policy‑making, legislative and regulatory processes.
• Proven ability to operate in a fast‑paced, matrixed corporate environment alongside sales, legal, product and PR teams.
• Exceptional written, verbal and executive presentation skills.

• Strong political acumen and ability to influence senior political and corporate leaders.
