Digital Engineering Lead - VIC/TAS

About the role

SMEC, a global engineering consultancy delivering infrastructure projects in transport, water, energy and urban development, is looking for a Digital Engineering Lead for Victoria and Tasmania. Based in Melbourne, you will lead and strengthen Digital Engineering capability across infrastructure projects, with a focus on Transport and Rail & Metro, and work closely with project, technical and leadership teams.

Key responsibilities

• Provide practical leadership and guidance so teams meet client requirements, project objectives and industry standards
• Connect Digital Engineering capability with continuous improvement in project delivery, working with project teams, clients and delivery teams to improve digital delivery, design, coordination and information management
• Identify opportunities for automation and innovation
• Build capability across VIC/TAS through coaching, guidance and knowledge sharing, and promote consistent Digital Engineering practices
• Contribute to the ANZ Digital Delivery leadership team

Required profile

• Digital Engineering and BIM experience gained in an engineering design consultancy or similar multidisciplinary environment
• Able to lead, influence and build trusted relationships across disciplines, projects and locations
• Practical leadership, coaching and guidance to multidisciplinary project teams
• Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills, confident working with project leaders and clients
• Approach to improving project delivery through better digital processes, automation and innovation

Required skills

• Digital Engineering and BIM experience on multidisciplinary infrastructure projects
• Understanding of Victorian and Australian standards for modelling and information management
• Managing and coordinating multidisciplinary models, federation and digital project information
• Experience with technology providers such as Autodesk, Bentley and 12D
• Project information and collaboration platforms
