Deputy Associate – Federal Circuit & Family Court (Perth)

About the role

The Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia Division 2 is seeking a Deputy Associate to support Judges Lucev and Ladhams in Perth. This position provides vital assistance in managing chambers, preparing court materials, and conducting legal research.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in the conduct of Court proceedings, including transcription of orders and courtroom management.
• Support the Associate with day‑to‑day chambers operations, respond to enquiries, and manage the Associate inbox as required.
• Undertake legal research, identify relevant legislation, summarise authorities, and maintain research materials.
• Enter case data into the Court’s case management system and prepare case summaries.
• Help prepare and edit judgments in line with publication standards.
• Maintain general file administration and support the overall operation of chambers.

Required profile

• Completed or near‑completed law qualification with a strong academic record.
• Excellent interpersonal skills, discretion and the ability to communicate with judiciary, legal professionals and the public.
• Strong organisational abilities, capable of managing priorities and meeting deadlines under pressure.
• Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and willingness to travel on circuits.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
• Effective use of online legal research tools and internet resources.

• Salary range $79,125 – $86,246 per annum plus 15.4% superannuation.
