Associate Director / Senior Manager – Project Finance (Sydney)

About the role

The Project, Export & Asset Finance (PEAF) team at ANZ is seeking an experienced professional to lead the origination and execution of limited‑recourse project finance transactions. This permanent, full‑time position in Sydney will focus on large‑scale, often greenfield projects across natural resources, transportation, infrastructure and energy sectors.

Key responsibilities

• Lead all phases of limited‑recourse financing deals, from origination through execution, ensuring strategic insight and execution excellence.
• Analyse, develop and review deal structures, term sheets and financing proposals in line with ANZ’s risk appetite.
• Manage the internal credit approval process to achieve efficient outcomes for both clients and the bank.
• Develop and nurture client relationships, delivering proactive solutions that enhance satisfaction.
• Collaborate with external stakeholders—including investors, contractors, industry customers and advisers—to drive successful transaction outcomes.
• Oversee ongoing credit management of the loan portfolio, preparing monitoring notes, risk grade reviews, waivers and consents.
• Motivate, coach and develop junior staff within deal teams and the broader business.
• Contribute to building a high‑performing team aligned with ANZ’s strategic objectives.

Required profile

• Significant experience in project finance, preferably within a banking or institutional finance environment.
• Proven ability to lead complex financing workstreams and manage credit processes.
• Strong analytical and quantitative skills with a solid understanding of risk assessment.
• Excellent client‑facing skills and a track record of developing long‑term relationships.
• Effective stakeholder management across internal and external parties.
• Leadership experience in developing and guiding junior team members.
