About the role
The Centre for Indigenous Economic Transformation (CIET) is a First Nations-led policy centre at the Australian National University that advances First Nations economic self-determination through research, policy, partnerships and education. It is seeking an experienced senior leader to establish and lead its education and professional development portfolio. Reporting to the Deputy Director, the Associate Director works closely with the Centre Director to design, pilot and deliver executive education, professional development and other capability-building initiatives.
Key responsibilities
- Develop culturally grounded curricula, microcredentials, masterclasses, tools and resources drawing on First Nations knowledges, Centre research, policy expertise and practitioner experience.
- Work with First Nations partners so programs meet their priorities, recognise cultural authority and protect Indigenous Cultural and Intellectual Property (ICIP).
- Build and manage executive education partnerships across First Nations organisations, government, industry, philanthropy, education providers and international Indigenous institutions, and represent the Centre in senior forums.
- Oversee the pipeline program, delivery models, workforce, resources and budgets, and identify funding and earned-income opportunities.
- Maintain governance, quality assurance, risk management, evaluation and continuous improvement across the portfolio.
- Lead and develop the Education and Professional Development team, fostering a collaborative, accountable and culturally safe team culture.
- Contribute to First Nations leadership of the Centre and advise on Centre-wide strategy, planning, governance and reporting.
Required profile
- Experienced senior leader able to establish and lead a new portfolio at a critical stage of the Centre's development.
- Rights to live and work in Australia; a background check is part of the recruitment process and an offer is conditional on satisfactory results.
The position is full time, continuing and contingent funded, with an expected funding end date of June 2030. The advertised salary package is competitive plus 17% superannuation. Applications are made through the recruitment agency, FPRS, by uploading a statement addressing the selection criteria and a CV with at least three referees.
