Senior Lecturer / Associate Professor in Stratospheric Physics

About the role

UNSW Canberra is seeking a Senior Lecturer or Associate Professor in Stratospheric Physics to join the School of Science, which covers Aviation, Chemistry, Geography, Mathematics, Physics and Oceanography. The role combines research and teaching, and includes serving as Station Director of the Balloon Launching Station in Alice Springs, Northern Territory, working with CSIRO, NASA and other international space agencies. Visa sponsorship is considered for qualified overseas candidates.

Key responsibilities

• Contribute to curriculum development and delivery
• Build and maintain a strong research portfolio, lead publications and supervise students
• Secure research funding and foster collaborations supporting teaching and research
• Manage large-scale projects, including contract negotiations, tender evaluations, risk management and budget planning
• At Associate Professor level, lead and advance outstanding research at national and international levels

Required profile

• PhD in a relevant discipline and/or equivalent professional experience
• Demonstrated expertise in atmospheric physics, electronics and/or stratospheric ballooning
• Proven commitment to keeping up with contemporary disciplinary knowledge
• Ability to contribute to and enhance the School's teaching and research activities
