Assistant Vice President, Transaction Monitoring

About the role

The Assistant Vice President, Transaction Monitoring will lead the monitoring of transaction alerts for customers in Australia and New Zealand, ensuring thorough investigation, documentation and compliance with AML/CTF regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Manage, investigate and log justifications for transaction monitoring system alerts, ensuring timely resolution.
• Develop and implement a best‑in‑class alert monitoring function for the Oceania Compliance team.
• Participate in creating new policies, frameworks and procedures in line with AML/CTF standards and regulators such as AUSTRAC and DIA.
• Conduct day‑to‑day monitoring to identify suspicious or fraudulent activity and perform enhanced due diligence as needed.
• Perform Quality Assurance activities related to transaction monitoring.
• Serve as the point of contact for branch‑specific system changes and liaise with internal departments.
• Prepare analytics and reports on alert outcomes and coordinate with compliance functions for reporting.

Required profile

• At least two years of experience in financial services compliance within a financial institution.
• Solid understanding of Australian AML/CTF regulations and banking‑related regulatory requirements.
• Degree qualification; AML/CTF certifications are advantageous.
• Strong communication skills to explain technical concepts to both specialists and non‑specialists.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities, work independently and collaboratively, and maintain detailed records.
