APS6 Policy Officer - Pricing Applications

About the role

A high-profile federal government department is hiring an APS6 Policy Officer through a labour hire contractor, HorizonOne, on a fixed-term contract from 1 December 2026 to 30 November 2027, with possible extension by another 12 months. You will provide technical and administrative support to the section managing pricing applications, working in a multidisciplinary team with minimal supervision. Candidates must be based in Brisbane, Canberra, Melbourne or Sydney.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in managing pricing applications, assessing them with detailed clinical, financial and market analysis to support evidence-based pricing decisions
• Draft policy papers, reports, briefs, agenda papers, committee minutes, correspondence and responses to enquiries
• Analyse diverse data sources and synthesise key information for decision makers
• Communicate and negotiate with internal and external stakeholders to deliver legislative and policy outcomes
• Plan and prioritise work to meet deadlines across competing priorities

Required profile

• Pharmacist qualification with recent community or hospital pharmacy practice experience
• Baseline security clearance
• Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team and manage competing priorities

Required skills

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and attention to detail in numerical and written contexts
• Well-developed written communication skills, ideally in a policy context
• Competency with common Excel functions and data-related tasks
• Interpersonal skills and ability to build relationships with a diverse stakeholder group

What we offer

• Rate of $70-$80 per hour plus superannuation
• Fixed-term contract with potential 12-month extension
