Accountant – Trade Finance Team

About the role

We are looking for a motivated and detail‑oriented Accountant to join Bapcor’s Trade Finance team. Reporting to the Senior Financial Accountant – Trade, you will support month‑end reporting, financial controls and audit processes for one of the company’s largest business segments.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare month‑end journals and ensure accurate, timely financial reporting.
• Maintain balance‑sheet reconciliations, investigate and resolve reconciling items.
• Analyse financial results against budget, forecast and prior periods, providing commentary on variances.
• Manage the Trade Fixed Asset Register, overseeing capitalisation, depreciation and disposals.
• Support half‑year and year‑end audit processes, preparing schedules and responding to auditor queries.
• Ensure compliance with accounting standards, group policies and reporting requirements.
• Partner with Finance, Operations, Merchandise and Marketing stakeholders to deliver accounting insights.
• Contribute to process‑improvement, automation and reporting enhancement initiatives.

Required profile

• Degree in Accounting, Commerce or related discipline.
• CA or CPA qualification (or working towards completion).
• Minimum 3 years’ experience in accounting, financial reporting or a similar finance role.
• Proven experience with month‑end processes, balance‑sheet reconciliations and audit support.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving and attention‑to‑detail abilities.
