Accountant – Finance Team (Construction & Property)

About the role

Versatile Group is seeking a commercially‑minded Accountant to join its growing Finance team. Reporting to the Finance Manager, you will support financial performance across a diverse portfolio of construction and property projects through accurate reporting, insightful analysis, and strong financial governance.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare monthly management accounts, financial reports and statements.
• Manage month‑end processes, reconciliations, journals and general ledger activities.
• Support budgeting, forecasting, cash‑flow management and financial planning.
• Monitor project costs, profitability and overall financial performance.
• Provide financial insights and recommendations to project managers and business leaders.
• Assist with revenue recognition, project accounting and compliance obligations (BAS, TPAR, FBT, audits, statutory reporting).
• Act as a key user and administrator of JobPac, ensuring system integrity and driving process improvements.
• Lead continuous‑improvement initiatives across finance and project teams.

Required profile

• Accounting qualification (CA/CPA) completed or in progress.
• Experience in financial, management or project accounting.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving and stakeholder‑management abilities.
• Knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards and compliance requirements.
• Experience in construction, engineering, infrastructure or other project‑based industries is highly regarded.
• High attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple deadlines.
• Proactive mindset with a genuine interest in improving processes and systems.
• Experience in an audit firm or public accounting environment is advantageous.
