Senior Financial Accountant – Sydney

About the role

Robert Half is seeking a Senior Financial Accountant to join a growing Sydney‑based organisation. Reporting directly to the CFO, you will work on multiple entities, handling month‑end close, statutory reporting and continuous improvement initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Lead month‑end and year‑end close across several entities
• Prepare and review monthly management accounts with variance analysis
• Perform bank and balance‑sheet reconciliations
• Prepare statutory financial statements and support external reporting
• Lodge BAS/IAS returns and review interest, loan positions and reconciliations
• Act as primary finance contact for external audits
• Maintain internal controls and update finance policies
• Identify and implement process improvements and automation
• Support the CFO with ad‑hoc financial analysis and projects

Required profile

• CA or CPA qualification (or near completion)
• 3+ years in financial accounting, preferably across multiple entities
• Strong experience in financial reporting, month‑end close and statutory compliance
• Exposure to audits, tax compliance and financial services environments
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage competing priorities
• Strong communication skills and confidence working with senior stakeholders

Required skills

• Advanced Excel
• Proficiency with accounting systems such as MYOB, Acumatica, Xero or similar
