Manager – Group Credit Policy (Banking)

About the role

This position is part of a high‑profile Group Credit Policy transformation initiative for a major Australian bank. Reporting into Line 2 Risk, you will lead the simplification, uplift and governance of non‑retail credit risk policies across the enterprise.

Key responsibilities

• Review, restructure and rewrite non‑retail credit risk policies and standards.
• Collaborate with senior stakeholders in Institutional Banking, Credit Risk and Risk Governance to gather requirements and drive policy outcomes.
• Support policy simplification initiatives aligned with regulatory and governance standards.
• Ensure policies, procedures and guidance documents are clearly structured, fit for purpose and compliant with APRA prudential standards.
• Provide subject‑matter expertise on credit risk governance and policy frameworks.
• Deliver project‑based outcomes within defined timelines and milestones.
• Contribute to broader governance, controls and operational risk initiatives.

Required profile

• Strong experience in banking or financial services, particularly non‑retail/institutional credit risk.
• Proven ability to write or manage credit policies, standards and governance documentation.
• Deep understanding of APRA prudential standards and Australian banking regulatory requirements.
• Excellent stakeholder engagement and influencing capabilities.
• Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities and meet project deadlines.
• Relevant tertiary qualifications and experience within large Australian banks or ADIs.

Required skills

• Knowledge of APRA prudential standards and Australian banking regulations.
• Understanding of banking control frameworks, governance processes and risk management practices.
