About the role

HammondCare, an independent Christian charity providing aged care in Caulfield, is looking for a volunteer to join its small Wednesday morning walking group for older people. The group of around four residents meets at The Glens and leaves at about 10:00 am; volunteers arrive around 9:30 am and spend 1.5 to 2 hours helping residents get ready for the walk and walking alongside them. The role is part of the Aged Care Volunteer Visitors Scheme funded by the Australian Government.

Key responsibilities

Help residents get ready for the walk and make their way to the foyer
Walk alongside residents, offering friendly company and encouragement
Help everyone feel included, comfortable and supported
Share conversation and companionship while enjoying the outdoors

Required profile

Age 18 or older
NDIS Worker Screening Check arranged and paid for by HammondCare
Reasonable level of mobility
Warm personality and a passion for connecting with people
Willingness to attend a weekday interview and orientation during business hours
