Volunteer Social Visitor

About the role

HammondCare, an independent Christian charity providing aged care services, is looking for volunteers to join its Volunteer Social Visitor program. You will spend time one-on-one or in small groups with older people living with dementia in care at the Caulfield facility, bringing joy, connection and companionship. The program is part of the Aged Care Volunteer Visitors Scheme funded by the Australian Government.

Key responsibilities

• Spend time with residents in small groups or one-on-one, sharing interests such as sports, art, gardening, pets, baking, yoga, music, movies or just a chat over coffee.
• Create genuine connection and heartfelt moments that brighten the day for residents.
• Commit to one hour per week, for a minimum of six months; a suitable weekday (Monday to Friday) will be agreed.

Required profile

• Aged 18 years or older.
• An NDIS Worker Screening Check, arranged and paid for by HammondCare.
• Willingness to attend a volunteer interview and orientation on a weekday during business hours.
