Volunteer Social Visitor - Residential Aged Care Home, Horsley

About the role

HammondCare, an independent Christian charity providing aged care services in the Illawarra, is looking for a Volunteer Social Visitor for its residential aged care home in Horsley. As a volunteer, you will offer companionship and warm, meaningful social interaction to older people living there, sharing whatever you enjoy, from sport and art to pets, gardening, walking, yoga, baking, crafts, movies, music, coffee and crosswords.

The program is part of the Aged Care Volunteer Visitor Scheme, funded by the Australian Government, which promotes links between elderly people and volunteers in their local community. Regular visits can improve quality of life and help people feel less isolated.

Key responsibilities

• Offer companionship and social interaction to residents of the residential care home
• Spend time connecting one-on-one or joining small group activities that brighten someone's day
• Make regular visits, either weekly or fortnightly depending on availability

Required profile

• Available for one-hour visits between 9am and 4pm, Monday to Sunday
• Visits can be scheduled any day of the week
• Available between 9:00am and 12:00pm or 1:00pm and 5:00pm
• 18 years or older
• An NDIS Worker Screening Check arranged and paid for by HammondCare
