Urgent Care Veterinary Nurse

About the role

Join Greencross Vets GP + Urgent Care Noosa as an Urgent Care Veterinary Nurse. You will support veterinarians, triage urgent cases and provide hands‑on care in a purpose‑built hospital with a variety of diagnostic equipment.

Key responsibilities

• Triaging and assessing urgent presentations.
• Assisting with stabilisation, treatment and monitoring of patients.
• Administering medications and treatments under veterinary direction.
• Assisting veterinarians with procedures and diagnostics.
• Performing nursing and minor procedures within scope of practice.
• Collecting and processing diagnostic samples.
• Supporting patients throughout their hospital stay and ensuring comfort.
• Communicating compassionately with clients and handling enquiries.

Required profile

• Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing or Veterinary Technologist degree.
• At least 2 years’ clinical veterinary nursing experience.
• Experience in emergency, critical care or urgent care nursing.
• Strong knowledge of veterinary nursing practices and ability to triage patients.
• Calm, organised and proactive in a busy environment.

Required skills

• Use of in‑house diagnostics: blood analysis, blood gas, coagulation testing, radiography, ultrasound, urinalysis and endoscopy.
• Administration of medications and monitoring of vital signs.
• Assistance with veterinary procedures and minor surgeries.
